Abbey Creek Vineyard.

A small and remarkable site in the Porongurup subregion.

Place

A 1.6-hectare vineyard first planted in 1990 and bordered by the Porongurup National Park. Named after the winter creek that traces its boundary and the view toward the Abbey Peak of the Stirling Range, a place defined by shelter, elevation, and nature.

Terroir

The vineyard sits on ironstone over clay: soils that deliver intensity without heaviness and depth without weight. Its 300m elevation, combined with the cooling influence of maritime breezes, creates a naturally moderated microclimate. Further sheltered by the trees, the site ripens slowly and evenly, producing the clarity and purity that have long distinguished Porongurup fruit.

Past

Under the custodianship of Michael and Mary Dilworth, Abbey Creek built a quiet reputation for thoughtful farming and small-scale excellence, producing many accolades along the way. Today, with vines now more than three decades old, our work continues their foundation: careful canopy management, organic-leaning practices, low yields, and a focus on clone and block specificity.

Site

The site is divided into four small blocks: a Riesling block; two Pinot Noir and a fourth block currently planted to Sauvignon Blanc, to be grafted to clone 96 Chardonnay in December 2025.

Abbey Creek is our home and our focus. Every choice — pruning, soil health, canopy, yield is made to reveal the site’s quiet strength and natural character.

Cellar door tastings will be available by appointment with winemaker Andrew Vesey in early 2026.
