Season
A warm, dry spring set the tone for an early start, followed by a hot summer, resulted in the earliest budburst and harvest on record for the Great Southern. Ripening came quickly, demanding careful timing to capture balance and retain natural acidity.
Vineyard
Sourced from the West Block of Moorialup Road vineyard, a north- to west-facing slope of shallow loam over granite at 186 metres. The vines work hard in the thin soils, producing fruit of remarkable purity and intensity. Managed by viticulturist Laura Wishart, the site enjoys full sun throughout the day, building depth and definition.
Vinification
Yields were low, and fruit was harvested two weeks earlier than usual to preserve freshness and avoid the summer heat. Whole bunches were gently pressed with minimal handling to protect delicate aromatics and avoid phenolic weight, allowing the site’s character to shine.
Style
A finely structured Riesling that captures the precision of Porongurup. Lime, red apple, and citrus blossom lead a palate defined by minerality, texture, and an acid line that gives both focus and lift. It is a wine of clarity, tension, and quiet power.
Cellar
Cellaring potential, this Riesling will evolve over the next 10 to 15 years, revealing greater depth and complexity.
